It is now mandatory to provide a photo ID when ordering ammonium nitrate (AN) fertiliser - without it, your sale will be declined and you may be reported to the Police.
Farmers purchasing AN fertilisers containing 16% nitrogen and above must prove their identity with photo ID - e.g. driving licence, passport, gun licence. Vendors must keep a record for Police inspection.

Any compound fertilisers containing 16% nitrogen and above derived from AN - which includes N from calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) – will also require photo ID.

Purchasers of certain plant protection products, biocides and acids
are also affected and will require photo ID.
